The Danger of Antisemitism in Central and Eastern Europe in the Wake of 1989–1990

In the wake of the dramatic changes that have occurred in Central and Eastern Europe since 1989, the old-new scrouge of anti-Semitism seems to have reappeared. The removal of the Communist regimes in the countries under discussion has meant that long-suppressed political, ideological, religious and social attitudes and their expression not only toward Jews – have suddenly been released. To examine these attitudes and developments in depth and try to determine where they might lead, The Vidal Sasson International Center for the Study of Antisemitism convened an international conference on "The Danger of Antisemitism in Central and Eastern Europe in the Wake of Recent Events." This conference, took place at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, between 28-29 October 1990.
