כדורגל היה מאז ומעולם מרכיב מרכזי בחייהם של יהודים בארגנטינה, ומועדון הכדורגל של אטלנטה מזוהה כבר עשרות שנים עם הקהילה היהודית של הבירה, בואנוס איירס. לדור הראשון של מהגרים הייתה החברות במועדון ערוץ של השתלבות חברתית במרקם החיים העירוני של בואנוס איירס. לדור השני הייתה זו דרך לשימור מרכיב זהות אתני ולדור השלישי –מסורת משפחתית בעיקר. ספר זה הוא מחקר חלוצי על ספורט וזהות אתנית. אף שרוב ההיסטוריונים יסכימו על חשיבותו של הכדורגל בחִברות של אמריקה הלטינית , מעט מאוד נכתב על אתניות ועל ספורט בחברות מהגרים כמו ארגנטינה וברזיל. גם ההיסטוריה החברתית של היהודים באמריקה הלטינית נוטה להתמקד באנטישמיות ולהזניח היבטים רבים מן התרבות העשירה של חיי היומיום בבואנוס איירס, שנוצרה בידי מהגרים יהודים וצאצאיהם , ובמיוחד יהודים שאינם חברים במוסדות הקהילה . מחקר זה מתאר פן מרכזי בעולמם של יהודי ארגנטינה ובתפקיד הפעיל שמילאו בעיצוב התרבות המקומית. אבל כדורגל הוא לא רק זירה לדיאלוג, אלא גם למתחים פוליטיים, אתניים ודתיים. קריאות אנטישמיות ליוו את משחקיה של אטלנטה לפחות מאז שנות השלושים. אוהדי אטלנטה לא נשארו חייבים והשמיעו לא פעם קריאות גזעניות משלהם כלפי אוהדי קבוצות יריבות. שחקנים, אוהדים ומנהלי קבוצות יהודים הם גיבוריו של ספר זה, המתבסס על מחקר ארכיוני וסדרה של ראיונות עם אוהדים של הקבוצה בארגנטינה ובישראל.

The articles in this volume originated, in large part, as papers presented at a conference convened by the Melton Coalition for Creative Interaction in December 2014 at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The Melton Coalition is a consortium of the three Melton Centers established over the years by the visionary philanthropist Samuel Mendel Melton: at the Jewish Theological Seminary, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Ohio State University. The conference was devoted to the various forms of interaction that obtain between the oral and the textual modes of discourse in Jewish history and contemporary Jewish life. Some of the essays dwell on oral and textual media in historical context – while others place more emphasis on the contemporary educational implications of the phenomena under discussion. All the essays in this volume articulate patterns of oral and written discourse that can greatly enrich our knowledge of both the history of Jewish culture and the theory and practice of Jewish education.

וינה מעלה בדמיון מתיקות רבה, תרתי משמע. אפפל־שטרודל וזאכר טארט, ואלסים ואופרטות. בה בעת היא נקשרת גם לפריחתה של תרבות גבוהה ומתוחכמת, חדשנית וחסרת מנוח כמו: היצירות של מאהלר ושנברג, ציוריהם של גוסטב קלימט ואגון שילה, הארכיטקטורה של אדולף לוס, הספרות של ארתור שניצלר, ורבים אחרים, וכמובן – הפסיכואנליזה. בשנים הקריטיות שבין סוף המאה ה־19 ומלחמת העולם הראשונה שהתאפיינו בשינויים פוליטיים, חברתיים, תרבותיים וכלכליים, התייחדה וינה כעיר בירה מגוונת של קיסרות רב־אתנית ורב־לאומית. בוינה זו חוו היהודים פריצה תרבותית וכלכלית שאין לה אח ורע, והיא הרקע לצמיחתה של הציונות המדינית של הרצל. בצד הפריחה התרבותית העשירה, טבוע בזיכרון גם צׅדה האפל של העיר הנפלאה הזו כעיר הבירה של קיסרות שרצח יורש העצר שלה, הארכידוכס פרדיננד, היה יריית הפתיחה למלחמת העולם הראשונה וכעיר רוויית אנטישמיות שהתגלתה במלוא כיעורה כעבור כמה עשורים ב”אנשלוס”. תמונה כפולה וּמרוּבּת סתירות זו של וינה נחשפת בכל המאמרים באנתולוגיה זו. מאמרים אלו מציגים את וינה הן כמקרה ייחודי והן כתופעה כלל־אירופית וכאב טיפוס של אורבניות מודרנית. וינה מצטיירת כאחד מן המוקדים שהצמיחו ועיצבו את המאה העשרים, דגם המתממש אף בערים גדולות אחרות. להיות של וינה מוקד הגירה עבור קבוצות דתיות ואתניות רבות, היו השלכות והשפעות על עיצוב זהויות קולקטיביות, על גיבוש תפישות עולם ועל נפשו של היחיד, שהן רלוונטיות עד ימינו.

כיצד ניתן להסביר את הופעתה של לאומיות דתית במדינות שעברו תהליך עמוק של חילון כמו טורקיה וישראל? מהם השורשים ההיסטוריים והדתיים של העוינות של רוסיה למערב, הנמשכת גם לאחר נפילת מסך הברזל? מדוע ההימנון האנגלי הבלתי רשמי מסתיים בתפילה לבניין ירושלים – באנגליה? הספר לאומיות וחילון פורס תמונה רחבה ומורכבת של מערכות היחסים הטעונות בין לאום ודת מכאן ובין התפתחות הלאומיות ותהליכי החילון מכאן – סוגיות שזוכות לעניין מחקרי וציבורי רב בעולם כולו. מאמרי הספר, פרי עטם של מיטב החוקרים, בוחנים מזוויות דיסציפלינריות שונות את היחס בין דת לחילון בשורה של דגמים היסטוריים בולטים: הלאומיות האמריקאית, האנגלית, הגרמנית, הטורקית, הרוסית, הפולנית והיהודית-ישראלית. השאלות העולות בספר רלוונטיות לא רק למחקר ההיסטורי והסוציולוגי, אלא גם להבנת המציאות שבה אנו חיים כיום כישראלים וכאזרחי העולם.

קורות הינו כתב עת שנתי העוסק בהֶיבֵּטים ההיסטוריים, הפילוסופיים והחברתיים של רפואה ויהדות.

מילון זה הוא תוצר של עבודת שדה שנמשכה כחצי יובל שנים. מאז פרסום המהדורה הראשונה בתשע"ג הוא תוקן, הורחב ושוכלל. הוא מציג מעל 4500 ערכים וכ-6000 תת-ערכים מן המרכיב העברי בלשונות היהודים, רובם נרשמו מפי כ-240 מסרנים מקהילות ישראל. המחקר התמקד בערבית היהודית של תימן, עירק וצפון אפריקה, בגאורגית היהודית, בפרסית היהודית, ובלהגים מסוימים של הארמית החדשה. המילון מפנה אל הספרות הנוגעת לתחומים אלו ודרך שיטה גם אל מילון החכיתייה של פרופ' יעקב בן-טולילה, אל מילון האיטלקית היהודית של פרופ' מריה מאיר-מודנה (בדפוס) ועוד. ערכים אחדים הם בעיקרם מדריך ביבליוגרפי.

בשלהי ימי הביניים ובראשית העת החדשה נתלשו ברחבי אירופה אלפי דפים מתוך כתבי יד עבריים עתיקים, והם שימשו כחומר לכריכת ספרים ולעטיפת מסמכים ארכיוניים. דפים אלו, המכונים 'גניזת אירופה', נחשפים אט אט מתוך הכריכות. רובם מכילים יצירות הידועות לנו זה מכבר, אך לעתים מתגלים בהם חלקים מחיבורים חשובים שאבדו ולא שרדו אלא ב'גניזה' זו. בספר שלפנינו, השני בסדרת 'מגנזי אירופה', מתפרסמים קטעים מתוך תשעה חיבורים, ממגוון תחומים: פרשנות המקרא, פרשנות התלמוד, ספרות ההלכה ופרשנות הפיוט. החשוב שבהם, שנדפס בפרק הראשון של הספר, נכתב בארץ ישראל במאה התשיעית או העשירית לערך. חיבור זה, שלא ידענו עד עתה על קיומו, חושף מידע רב ערך על תולדות ההלכה בארץ ישראל באותם ימים, ואף מלמד רבות על גלגוליה של תורת ארץ ישראל לאדמת אירופה.

ספר זה עוסק בתשוקתם של מו”לים, סופרים ואמנים ליופי, ובניסיונות ליצור קהל צרכני־ספר אנין טעם. זהו מחקר פורץ דרך בתולדות הדפוס העברי במאה העשרים, המעמיד במרכז את היחס לספר כחפץ נוי וכיצירת אמנות, על שלל היבטיו. מתוך סיפורן של שלוש הוצאות ספרים עבריות שפעלו בברלין, בשנות העשרים של המאה הקודמת, עולה במלוא עוזה זירת ההתרחשות התוססת של המו”לות העברית, באחת מן התקופות המרתקות והחשובות בתולדותיה. בלשון קולחת ובהירה, משורטט עולם עשיר וגדוש בפרטים של תחום יצירה תרבותית יהודית במאה העשרים, אשר כמעט ולא נחקר עד כה.

ספר זה מציג את השיח ההלכתי ואת התפתחותו של המשפט הרפואי הישראלי. הספר עוסק בטיפול רפואי לקראת קץ החיים, בהפלות ובטיפולי פוריות, ונוטל חלק בדיונים המתמשכים בסוגיות המוות המוחי ושוק האברים להשתלה. הספר דן בהרחבה במוסר המיני ביהדות ובקשריו למדיקליזציה של הפוריות וההלכה עצמה. פרופ' בר אילן מציג גם את התיאולוגיה והרוחניות של ההלכה הרפואית היהודית, את אחריות הקהילה לטיפול רפואי ואת חברות ביקור החולים, שמילאו תפקיד מרכזי בקהילות יהודיות עד לראשית המאה העשרים. הספר לא רק מציג את האתיקה היהודית לאנשי המקצועות הרפואיים ולקהל התורני והמשכיל בכללותו, אלא גם מבהיר את ההלכה על רקע הפילוסופיה המשפטית וההיסטוריה החברתית ומציג תובנות בדבר עצם מהותה של ההלכה ודרכי תפקודה בחברה. זוהי מהדורה מתוקנת, מעודכנת, מורחבת ומותאמת לציבור הישראלי של הספר שיצא באנגלית ב־2014.

Un véritable courant de vie parcourt ces pages que Perspectives consacre au cinéaste Marcel Ophuls. La vie, le vivant dominent. Il n’est pas étonnant qu’une des contributions de ce numéro s’intitule “Liberté, vitalité, spectacle” (Sophie Brunet). Dès lors, la division du volume s’est faite d’elle-même: 1-Un homme vivant; 2-Une oeuvre vivante. Au départ, le portrait d’un homme se dessine. Dans une “interview imaginaire.” On savoure son franc-parler, non que l’on adhère à toutes ses idées – en particulier en ce qui concerne Israël – mais on admire l’aisance et la liberté totale qui anime ses propos. Le comportement professionnel du cinéaste, son comportement tout court, trouvent leur place dans cette première partie. Parfois même, l’homme est saisi dans le feu de l’action. Les grands problèmes qui occupent le coeur et la pensée d’un homme de notre temps se retrouvent dans la seconde partie du volume. Là encore, au plus près de la vie . Le cinéaste interpelle les spectateurs lorsqu’il traite de la Shoah, de l’Occuption, ou de la Résistance, de la place que ces sujets tiennent dans la mémoire d’un Français ou d’un Allemand. On s’interroge avec le cinéaste : se doit-il d’être objectif? Mais “dès le début de sa carrière, remarque Pierre Beylot, un style documentaire original fondé sur la parole de témoignage et le montage des sources dont il assume de plus en plus ostensiblement le caractère subjectif” marque son oeuvre. C’est dire aussi que souvent le regard s’attarde sur le traitement esthétique des sujets abordés. Ecoutons François Niney:“Cette remise en question de nos manières de voir et de nos dilemmes, à la fois politiques et personnels, par le jeu et le poids des mots, différencie radicalement le documentaire selon Marcel, du panel d’opinions tel que l’expose en permanence l’étal médiatique”. L’important est que son public réfléchisse. Il s’agit, selon Valérie Carré, de “mettre en mouvement la réflexion du spectateur”. Qu’attendre de l’avenir? Encore une oeuvre surprenante? Vincent Lowy, à l’écoute, note: “Boulimique de projets virtuels, l’infatigable MO junior annonce déjà les quatre titres d’ […] improbables best-sellers…” [futurs romans policiers }. Il convient enfin de souligner le rôle déterminant qu’a joué Stéphane Kerber dans l’élaboration de ce numéro de Perspectives. Nos vifs remerciements vont à lui. Laissons-lui maintenant la parole.
