In 1986 he began his studies in political science and philosophy faculties at Tel Aviv University. He received his graduate and doctoral degrees at the Department of Journalism and Communication at the Hebrew University. During his studies, and as a result of his love of Russian literature, he studied Russian. In 1996-1998 he served as an emissary of the Jewish Agency in Moscow. Yuval taught in various educational institutions, especially in the School of Communication at the College of Management, where he served as the Dean of Students. He also taught at the Emek Yizra'el College. Every year he taught as a visiting lecturer at the Institute of Asian and African Studies at Moscow State University
