שמריהו טלמון

Shemaryahu Talmon (1920-2010) was the J.L. Magnes Professor in the Department of Bible and Head of the Hebrew University Bible Project. He served as Head of the Department of Bible and Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at the Hebrew University; and as Rector at the University of Haifa. Talmon was one of the founders of the Bible Project, co-editor of the Jeremiah and Ezekiel volumes, and led the Bible Project almost until his passing. Talmon was one of the leading scholars of Bible and the Dead Sea scrolls, authored many books and articles on various aspects of biblical studies, and was considered a groundbreaking scholar in the field of textual criticism. He was awarded the Israel Prize for Biblical Studies in 1997.
