Sylvie Fogiel-Bijaoui is Professor of Political Sociology at the College of Management, Rishon LeZion. She received her Ph.D in 1981 from Paris X-Nanterre University and the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris. She heads, with Dr Reina Rutlinger-Reiner the Van leer Institute Research Project: Family and Individualization - Gender, Religion, Nation and Human Rights. She also heads the Kibbutz – Gender Research Project at Yad Tabenkin, the Research and Documentation Center of the United Kibbutz Movement. Among her most recent publications are her books: Old Dreams, New Horizons Kibbutz Women Revisited , Tel-Aviv and Ramat Efal: Yad Tabenkin, Hakkibutz HaMeuchad 2009 (in Hebrew); Democracy and feminism: Gender, citizenship, and human rights , Raanana: Open University, 2011 (in Hebrew). Her paper: "Un chemin d’émancipation : L’Alliance israélite universelle et les femmes juives de Palestine (1872-1939)" was published in 2013, in Archives Juives, revue d’histoire des Juifs de France.
