This work presents an outline study of the elders in a wide panorama of political and social life in Ancient Israel. It is based on the relevant biblical sources, and on Ancient Near Eastern texts, containing information on similar bodies in Canaan, Phoenicia and Mesopotamia. Notes and bibliography are provided.
