אולגה קפליוק

Olga Kapeliuk is Professor Emeritus in the Departments of Linguistics and of African Studies of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She specialized in living Semitic languages of the periphery, namely the Semitic languages of Ethiopia and Neo-Aramaic. She also taught Arabic, Ethiopian history and civilization and language problems in Africa. She was a visiting professor of Amharic and Tigrinya at the Institut Nateonal des Langues et Civilisations Orientales in Paris and of comparative Semitic studies at the Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia. In 2005 she was awarded the Israel Prize in general linguistics.
