A loan with interest was the primary source of livelihood for European Jews in the Middle Ages; And a short issue in the Gemara - a few lines long - formed the halachic infrastructure for this handout. This book is an attempt to trace the evolution of this issue in halachic thinking in Europe during the Middle Ages, a period known in halachic history as the "period of the Rishonim".
