Arie Shachar

Arie Shachar is a Professor of Urban Geography and Urban Planning at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The topics of his research and teaching are: economic globalization and urban planning; metropolitan development and planning; national spatial planning; the influence of the European Union on urban growth and development. He serves as an advisor to the Government of Israel and to a number of international organizations in the field of national and urban planning. Prof. Shachar received the Israel Prize for Urban Geography in 1999.
