Prof. Pau Figueras, was born in Terrassa, Catalonia
(Spain), and received his education in the monastery of Montserrat. There he
also studied philosophy, theology, ancient languages, biblical sciences and
Church history. He completed his academic studies in Italy, Germany and Israel.
In 1975 he received his PhD in comparative religion from the Hebrew University
of Jerusalem for his research on the Jewish ossuaries, which he wrote under the
guidance of Prof. David Flusser and Prof. Michael Avi-Yonah. From 1973 to 1999
he taught at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev mainly on Christian subjects,
such as New Testament, history, archaeology and art history. As a member of the
Dept. of Bible, Archaeology and Ancient Middle Eastern Studies he also
conducted the excavation of a Byzantine church in the Negev.
His numerous researches on all the mentioned fields are well-known among
scholars
