Uri Rubin was a professor of Arabic and Islam at the Tel Aviv University. He specializes in ancient Islam and the Quran, which he has translated into Hebrew. A prolific scholar, he has published numerous books and articles in Israel and around the world. His research deals with interpretations of the Quran; the history of Mecca’s pre-Islamic and Islamic sacredness; Medina and Jerusalem; Prophet Mohammed; the status of the Jews and Jewish prophets in the Quran and in Sunni and Shiite Islam traditions; and Islamic eschatology.
