Dr. Alex Valdman is a researcher at the Goldstein-Goren Diaspora Research Center at Tel Aviv University, a lecturer at Tel-Aviv University’s International BA program, and the Head of the History Division at the Kaye Academic College of Education. He is a historian of modern Eastern Europe and of the Russian-speaking Jewry, focusing on the history of education, patterns of social and geographical mobility, and questions of diasporic identity. He earned his Ph.D. from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and served as a research fellow at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the University of Haifa, and the University of Pennsylvania.
