Doron Mor, a member of Kibbutz Merchavia, combines working as an educator with
geological research: he was a teacher, a headmaster of schools in both Mexico
City and Israel, managed the department of In-service training in the Ministry
of Education, and served as the administrator of the Northern District of that
Ministry. At the same time, he specialized (at the Hebrew University in
Jerusalem) in Volcanism and Radiogenic Geochronology, along with researching
volcanism in the Golan Heights for 45 years. He prepared its
geological–vulcanological maps, wrote the book "The Golan – land of the
volcanoes "' lectured at the universities of Haifa and Jerusalem and a
number of colleges, and also guided many geological tours in the Golan. Lately,
the "Golan Vulcan Park" to which he has served as a scientific and
didactic counselor was opened to the public. He was awarded the Israeli
Geological Society Medal for his contribution to introducing geology to the
public in Israel.
