נעם שריף

Noam Sheriff (1935-2018) was an Israeli composer, conductor and educator, one of the most important musicians Israel has ever had. He was awarded the EMET prize (2003) and the Israel Prize (2011). Since the premiere of his work "Festival prelude" at the opening of the Israel Philharmonic hall in Tel-Aviv, conducted by Leonard Bernstein (1957), his works were performed all over the world. He was a productove educator and counts numerous leading musicians as his pupils. He conducted orchestras all over the world and was music director of many Israeli orchestras. His work elevated Israel and left a lasting imprint on its musical culture.
