Atara Sivan is Associate Professor and Course Leader of the Postgraduate Diploma Course in Education in the Department of Education Studies at the Hong Kong Baptist University. She is also a Board Member of the World Leisure and Recreation Association and an Executive Committee member of its Commission on Education. She completed her BA and MA degrees in Education and Sociology at Bar-Ilan University in Israel and her PhD in Education at the University of Hong Kong. She taught at the School of Education at Bar Ilan and Haifa Uriiversities in Israel and coordinated informal and social education in the Israeli Ministry of Education. Her main areas of academic endeavor are leisure education and research teaching and learning approaches and methods and action research in education. She has been investigating the area of leisure education in Hong Kong for the lastj-few years and serves as academic adviser and consultant for educational programs. She has been the scientific adviser to the development of the first Leisure Education Curricula in Israel. She has published widely in the fields of leisure and education and served as a keynote speaker in numerous international conferences.
